about
Peter gave me these lyrics back when Bob Hope was considered risqué and, after trying to make it sound like King Crimson, I was notified that it was actually a reggae song. Peter quickly sang me the melody to the opening parts of the chorus and I finished the rest. A fun exercise, and the start of my partnership with Peter.
As an aside, Meltdown was originally recorded in 2004. Pedro and I are getting old...
Many thanks, first of all, to Gui Duvignau for some excellent keys and bass (it was a really gay, pinkish-red bass). And we should also mention one Bob Marley, whose very recognizable riff very naturally fit into this track. It just kinda popped into the arrangement as I was working out the song. Love ya, Bob.
lyrics
(Chorus)
While you were out
Date and time
Phone fax mobile area code number extension
While you were out
Telephone please call
Came to see you
Will call again
Wants to see you
Urgently see you
While you were out
Returned your call
Special attention special attention
While you were out
I left you a message
I can't wait
Got to get out
I'm having a meltdown
Got to see the shore
Going to the car
I'll give five minutes
I'm waiting at the door
Let's go have some fun
No worries, just see what's in store
(Chorus)
I guess you already left
I was at work
I got to pay the bills
I wanna go
Can't go
I got to sell the car
But we can see the beach
When we've had our fill
We'll retire, we'll just take it slow
And I'll be waiting for when you get back home
Please, honey, don't forget to pick up some milk at the store
